Senior Consultant - Quantitative

The Role:

Our Senior Consultants are client service pro’s, able to lead client engagements end to end, ensuring a strategic deliverable rather than a purely research deliverable.

This role has a strong quantitative slant, though we expect you to also understand qualitative work, and in your own unique way be able to integrate this knowledge within clients in order to develop business further and lead project engagements. You’ll have a strong view of the client’s strategic issues and how to link project deliverables with a client’s wider business goals and vision.

Outside of existing clients, this role has a strong emphasis around the following areas:

  • Business Development – attracting, engaging and converting integrated new business opportunities on an ongoing basis
  • Profile Development – on-going activities that help develop TLE and your own personal profile within the industry
  • Team Development – Responsibility for the development of commercial and craft skills with junior team members

The Day to Day:

Clients

  • Responsibility for managing key client relationships ensuring growth and profitability
  • Responsibility for consistently delivering target profitability and quality of client engagements
  • Ensuring that clients have a solid team aligned to their business, with all team abreast of key client issues and ensuring junior team members are adequately trained/supported
  • Positions TLE effectively with key clients to showcase the breadth of our offer
  • Adopts best practice ways to look after clients and deliver work, driving these approaches with the team
  • Able to influence client decision makers across quant, qual and strategic projects
  • Develops sound commercial thinking and brings to bear in all client engagements
  • Provides thought leadership to the team and develops strategic and communication solutions for key clients

Skills

  • Strong quantitative research expertise, able to advise more junior team members on best practice techniques e.g. complex segmentations
  • Able to independently run projects end-to-end (Identifying opportunities, taking briefs, developing and pitching proposals, running projects and delivering results and recommendations)
  • Capable practitioner of strategically led quantitative research projects
  • Lead brainstorming analysis sessions, formulating hypothesis and an interesting opinion
  • Able to interpret & analyse data to formulate appropriate conclusions for clients
  • Effectively lead presentation of findings and recommendations to client

Offer/Project Delivery

  • Stays abreast of the latest in insight solutions to ensure highest quality of the TLE offer to the client – recommends and implements new and different techniques where advantageous
  • Leads quality assurance (ensures consistency of TLE standards, discipline skills) within team. Supports and advises team members, and in cases where standards are not met shows them how to get back on track
  • Participates in ongoing skills development both inside and outside of TLE’s business
  • Contributes to TLE IP development and is a strong general practitioner
  • Works with the Senior Leadership Team to help build brand / individual profile within the industry. Takes responsibility for a strand of TLE’s New Business proposition

People

  • Continually improving your own capability in client servicing and quantitative research skills
  • Performance management – undertakes reviews with aligned reports bi-annually, with formal monthly catch ups to assess progress
  • Coaches team members to ensure collaborative client focused relationships to achieve exceptional client outcomes, including attending client meetings with direct reports
  • Demonstrates powerful and charismatic ability to sell the TLE offer. The verbal and written communication skills are strong and can clearly delegate and communicate roles to team members
  • Can demonstrate client delight in project delivery

Financial

  • Responsible for the overall profit targets of clients that they lead and ensuring the team meets or exceeds them
  • Manages annual budget and weekly forecasting for clients they lead

Growing a Better Business

  • Maintains a strategic focus on our business and the business of current and potential clients in order to leverage new opportunities for the team
  • Has a strategic understanding of the client’s business needs and objectives and are able to articulate this in the form of the TLE offer
  • Identifies business threats and opportunities and proactively communicates this internally
  • Strategically maintains a network of industry contacts and relationships with key clients

Your Knowledge and Experience:

  • Ideally university educated (or equivalent qualification)
  • 7+ years in a leading research consultancy or similar with a quantitative focus
  • Experience with SPSS is desirable
  • Strong experience of translating technical information for clients in order to aid their understanding
  • Demonstrates the ability to build and maintain strong networks and relationships
  • Experience in developing clients and technical service capability
